Entering just his third year in Formula One, Gasly has already experienced how brutal the sport can be and how much of a rollercoaster it is.
Making his debut with Toro Rosso, Gasly held his own and drove some impressive races which included a fourth placed finish around Bahrain in just his second grand prix. And following the departure of Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull, Gasly was then promoted to the ‘A’ team.
However he struggled and only lasted half a season - was it the pressure? The presence of Max Verstappen? It is hard to tell as Gasly was sent back down to the ‘B’ for the rest of 2019. But this is where he rediscovered his old form and seemed much more at ease on race weekends, as he drove brilliantly for Toro Rosso which even ended in a podium finish at Brazil.
Having been kept on at the team for another year, now named Alpha Tauri, 2020 will be about consistency for the young driver - the future is still promising.
